What replacement filter would this use?
Reply
Hi, This cartridge filter system would require this PL0168 Replacement Cartridge
Reply
How often does the cartridge need replaced?
Reply
We would suggest replacing the cartridge every 6-12 months. If you are only running the filter system 5 months out of the year then this would be every 1-2 pool seasons.

1. What electrical supply breaker amperage is required?
2. What is the approximate GPM?
Reply
Hi Dan, Ideally the 115V outlet that this pump will plug into will have a dedicated 20 amp breaker. The amp draw on this pump is 12 amps.

I desire to connect a 1-1/2" flex hose to the pump suction, and another 1-1/2" flex hose to the filter discharge. This unit is delivered with male connections at these two points. What PVC fittings are needed to make screwed connections at these two points that will allow connecting the 1-1/2" hoses?

Hi. You will have to purchase the accessories and supplies needed at your local hardware or plumbing store. The ports are 1-1/2" MPT fr the pump and filter.

Local building code requires an L5 twist lock receptacle for my outdoor pool installation. Am I able to get this pump/filter with a twist-lock connector on the end? What do you recommend?

Hi Justin, You can use this Twist Lock Plug to convert from the standard 3 prong which is included with the system.

I currently have a Hayward Xstream 1.5 HP 150 sq ft pump and filter for my semi inground 18 x 33, 18,000 gal pool. I’m looking for a pump/filter that has an easily removable filter. The Hayward I have now is extremely difficult to open to change the filter. What is the mechanism for opening the filter housing and is it easy to open? Also, are the fittings to connect to my piping the same size as are on my Hayward? Thank you.

Hi Rob, I have personally used this filter and have found the lid removal and cartridge removal relatively easy. You depress the latch listed as key #11 on this PL1520 Parts Diagram you then unscrew the lock ring (key #1) remove the lid and remove the cartridge. I found the latch easy to depress.

Great. Thank you. Could you tell me if this 120 sq ft filter would be adequate for an 18 x 33 semi in ground 18,000 gal pool? My current Hayward filter is 150 sq ft.

Hi, Rob. This system will only work if the water level of the pool is higher than the pump in order to provide adequate water flow.

Do you sell just the full cartridge assembly for PL1520 by itself. I already have the pump. Just want to change from DE system to filter cartridge. If so what would it cost.

Hi Frank, I'm sorry we do not sell the filter assembly by itself. We only offer this packaged with the pump.

I have a 18 or 20 ft pool would this work for it? And does it come with anything to just hook up and go?
Reply
Hi Jay, this system or something of similar capacity is good for an 18 - 20 foot round above ground swimming pool. You will also need extra hoses and accessories to connect the pool to the pump and the filter to the pool. This suction and discharge package would be a good kit to have.

What is the flow-rate of this unit? I need to know if it will work with my propane pool heater. Thanks!

Hi Anne, this pump/ filter system has average gallons per minute rating of 120 when installed close to the above-ground swimming pool.

Can/how you vacuum the pool with this filer?
Reply
Hi Teresa, so the most common above ground swimming pools can use a standard above-ground vacuum head with a 1 1/4 inch vacuum hose attached to the pool skimmer. The PL0043 and 1 1/4 inch vacuum hoses listed on this vacuum heads page would work. Here is ageneral guide that we put together called "How To Manually Vacuum A Pool" that should assist.

I got a 22 ft by 52in high would this be good for it and is it a sand filter?
Reply
Hi Miguel, yes any 1.5 hp pump w/ filter system will be a good match for a 22 ft. rd. aboveground swimming pool. This one is no longer available however there are some Waterway pump/filter system options as well.
