Debut of the black shirts:
How many gallons per minute does this motor push?
– Nick
Well Nick, unfortunately the motors are not rated in gallons per minute (GPM). The reason being, the motors are used on several different pump models and each system is going to have a different Total Dynamic Head and that’s going to affect the GPM. To find the actual GPM you must find the flow curve of your pump, then find the GPM rating congruent with your total dynamic head.
(That was nerd talk for look at a graph).
Let’s say you have a UST1102 1 HP pump motor. This motor can be fitted to dozens of different pump models. So, within a litany of pumps there can be medium head, high head, and various plumbing sizes. All these categories add more variables that will change the GPM rating.
The best information to use in identifying your pump is its model number. On your pump’s housing, look for the model number (usually on a silver tag) or open the pump to find a part number on the impeller. The impeller part number will narrow the search to a few pump models. With the search field narrowed, review the parts breakdown page to determine the model that most resembles your pump. Once you find the match, look for the pump curve either on INYO’s website, or through a Google search.
