- Is my pool heat pump leaking?
“How do I determine if my heat pump has a leak, or if it’s normal condensation”
At high humidity, you can expect the heat pump to discharge as much as a gallon of water caused by condensation from the air. To determine if it’s a leak, you can test the water near the heat pump for chlorine. If the water does have chlorine level, you have a leak. If there’s no chlorine, it’s more than likely condensation.
However, this only works if the pool has a good chlorine level, and that’s not always the case.
That’s true. You can also turn the heat pump off and run the pump. If no water accumulates underneath the heat pump, you know that condensation was the cause of the original water buildup. If water does appear, you have a leak.
