I have a Century Centurion 8-177450-03 type CS FR Y56Y 1 HP , 1.65 SF. Which is the right replacement motor? I live in California and they will not ship a 1 hp unit.
The EVQ165 would be the correct replacement for your Century Centurion 8-177450-03.

We received a new motor in a timely fashion. The new motor was easily installed. The only problem I experienced was a leak because of the new seal kit that I ordered at the time of the motor did not prevent a leak. I ultimately had to use the old Seals which worked perfectly fine. I’m pleased with the motor but disappointment with the seal kit.

Electricity to run the motor is the most expensive item for our pool. I’ve been interested in a variable speed for some time. Found this gem online and figured the price was low enough to give it a shot.
INYO has great videos. I watched several to get an idea of the commonalities between different motor and pump brands. After awhile I felt comfortable that I understood the essentials.
Overall this was relatively straight forward. Their website recommended the proper mount. I disconnected the power, removed the motor from the pump, and took it to the work bench. There I was able to take it apart and prepare the VS motor.
Replacing the gaskets and couplings was a bit tricky. These required a bit more finesse and effort. Once that was done I simply put the other items back onto the pump.
From there I mated the new motor to the pump. Placing the bolts back onto the pump requires care. The last thing you want to do is crack the housing. Take your time.
Wiring was the trickiest part. I’ve never wired a 220V system so I had to research. Since it has dual 110 inputs that are out of phase it doesn’t seem to matter which is L1 and L2. This turned out to be the case and the motor powered up fine as a quick test.
After that proved successful I helped prime the pump by adding water to the pump skimmer. Then I turned it on. It worked beautifully.
In total it took less than an hour and I budgeted two. Would recommend trying this yourself first. You will save a ton of money and have a good time!

Unfortunately there was a miscommunication and I needed the round flange not the square. Inyopools was a great help and made the return process easy. I was looking forward to this pump because they said it was super quiet and the round flange was back-ordered, so they recommended a different motor which is installed and running great.

Removed and replaced 240V motor with the V-Green EVO 1.65 motor and replaced the shaft seal along with new impeller. I am very mechanically inclined so this might not be for most DIY enthusiasts although purchasing the parts from Inyo Pools is a wise choice due to very competitive prices along with great customer support. I certainly can say that there is a noticeable difference in electricity usage and is extremely quiet, what a great purchase and thank you Inyo Pools!
