I need a pump for a large water fountain. The pump will set 3-6 feet above the water level of the fountain. Will this pump self prime and have sufficient suction head? Also, I am targeting 20-30 gpm flow rate, any concerns? And lastly I would like to put a filtration system downstream of the pump. What are my options for this size system. The volume of the fountain is 1120 gallons. Thanks

Hi James, The Power Flo II can only be installed up to 4 feet above the water level or will have issues priming. If installed and have less than 30 feet of head or resistance will provide the flow rate you're targeting. If the pump will be installed higher than 4 feet above water level you will need to go with a Waterfall pump, either the Hayward TriStar 75GPM Waterfall Pump or Pentair AFP-75 Waterfall Pump will be sufficient enough to be installed more than 4 ft above water level.

Why is the Power-Flo II with a 1/2 HP motor $70 more expensive than the Power-Flo LX with a larger 1HP motor?

Paul, That's because the Power Flo is for above ground pools only. The Power Flo II can be used on smaller in ground pools.

I have a 1/2 HP Power-Flo 11 and would like a back up pump like. I seems to be easy on electricity, runs 115 volt, 110 outlet. Is there anything that would be better on electricity? And, why are these pumps more costly than 1 and 1 1/2 HP pumps?

Hi, There is not another pump that would be better on electricity than the 1/2 hp model, it is higher priced because of the supply and demand for larger size pumps.

Received ordered pump and after opening case to connect wires discovered broken plastic switch. Called and got quick response from Matthew; he got me return instructions and I received a replacement promptly. Great price and service and saved over $40 vs purchasing from my local pool supply store.
