need to remove faulty drain plug but cannot get it out

Hi Howard, This drain assembly simply unscrews from the tank. You may need to use a wrench to get a good grip.

Is there a separate screen for this spigot drain assembly, or is it integral to the part? I have sand leaking when I remove the drain plug, and am wondering if the spigot was not properly re-installed when the sand was changed, or if it is bad or missing some sort of screen to stop the sand from flowing out the drain.

The Drain Assembly 3/4" - 154698 uses a plug and o-ring that are not included. The part numbers are Drain Plug 1/4" - 154699 O-ring Od 11/16" (O-39) - 112 and Sand Drain Gasket (154713) you may view them in the schematic on this link http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_pac_fab_sand_dollar.aspx for keys 7,8,9, and 10. If one of the o-rings has failed you may experience the sand leaking out.

Will this work for a Triton 2 filter

Hi Margaret, yes this drain assembly is compatible with the Pentair Triton II series filter models manufactured after 3/1983. If you are not sure of the date of manufacturer you can provide the serial number to us and we can look into that or you can contact Pentair directly with that to confirm at 1-800-831-7133.

Thought it would fit my old filter, from the description. It was too large. Had to return, received a refund. Had my filter since 2000, was obsolete, so had to purchase a new one.
