Will the AO Smith UCT1152 cost less to run than the UST1152?
Reply
Yes, the UCT1152 will cost less to operate compared to the standard UST1152. Depending on how the motor is cared for, it should last several years. When replacing the motor, I would recommend buying a tune up kit based on your pump model and age.

Hello Ray - The UCT1152 is not the correct replacement motor. Model USQ1152 would be the correct replacement. The seals would depend on the make and model of your pump. Our Pool Pump Parts Page has a list of most of the common pool pumps. The seals can be found on this page.

Hi Paul. The UCT1152 motor is the standard Energy Efficient 1 1/2 HP replacement motor for the Hayward Super Pump. Your current B229SE motor is equivalent to the UCT1152. Both will work. The B229SE is about 2 " longer and is currentrly about $40 less than the UCT1152. I would also recommend a GOKIT3: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/00500022000632.htm?Keywords=gokit3

Yes, the UCT1152 is the energy efficient single speed replacement motor for you. Replacing an older UST1102. I am trying to decide between this UCT1152 and the CT1102. Both will operate at similar hp and are a similar cost. Would there be a reason to pick one over the other. I will be replacing the impeller as well so replacement cost for that is not a factor.
Reply
You really would not want to use either motor for they are stronger than your UST1102. The energy efficient version of your model motor would be the model UCT1102. Increasing the horse power is not always a good idea for the builder typically calculates the pump strength needed.

Hello -
What impeller will need to be used for a Hayward Superpump?

The second motor option is this 1.65 HP variable-speed motor which will save you roughly 70% on the operational cost of the motor so you will save a ton on your power bill with a variable speed motor.
