How do I bleed air for a top mounted Hayward multiport valve? They have no air bleeder valve.
Reply
Hayward TOP mounted multiport valves do not require an air bleeder valve. They self purge air in the system through the return lines.

Can we get this valve (Hayward Var-flow sp071621) to replace ours. The old conections are straight up and down, will this pose a problem ?

Hi Jill, If you can provide us with the manufacturer and model of the filter you have we can confirm if the valve will replace the one that you have.

I have an Hayward Vari-flo xl Valve (75 pgm/284 lpm) filter and I have a leak at the pressure gauge. Do I have to have a specific pressure gauge or will any work? I guess that's my problem since its leaking from it

Hi, The standard 1/4" NPT Back Mount (102D-204D) or Bottom Mount (101D-204D) pressure gauge can be used with this valve.

Can I use this valve to replace an SP0714T with 1.5" fittings. Our pump is 2" and I'd like to avoid the reduction if possible.
Reply
Hello Richard, Yes you can swap the SP0714T to the SP071621, but the questions would be are you using adaptors to fit into your 2" lines from your SP0714T? Just make sure you have 2" all the way around to make sure this will work for you.

I Have a Hayward GM-245 sand filter with a SP714T multiport valve. Will this work as a replacement for that valve? I want to replace my old single speed pump with a VS pump and replace all the plumbing with 2" PVC, plus my current SP714T is leaking so I figure this would be a good time to replace it. If not, are there any other 2" models that I could replace the SP714T with?

will this fit SM 2506T sand filter ?

Hi, Mark. The SandMaster Filter Series Manual list Part # SP0714TC, which is the Canadian version of the SP0714T valve. This SP071621 is not listed as a being compatible.

my SM 2506T sand filter has 2" plumbing connected to a Hayward SP 71 top valve. Will a hayward valve with 1.5" ports work ? Do couplings exist to go from 2" to 1.5" ?

Hi, Mark. The SandMaster Filter Series Manual list Part # SP0714TC, which is the Canadian version of the SP0714T valve. This SP071621 is not listed as a being compatible. You will need an adapter with a 1-1/2" MPT x 2" Slip.

I have a SM 2506 T sand filter. The existing plumbing is for 2 inches. What top mount valves would be compatible with the Hayward SM2506T sand filter. I would prefer getting valve with 2 inches plumbing ports

Hello- The only valve I see listed for the SM2506T is the Replacement Valve for Hayward SP0714T - PL0714 which is 1.5".

Replacement top valve for s210t Hayward
The Hayward S210T has two options of valves depending on pipe size, one for 1.5" - SP714T and one for 2" - SP071621

Hi i am replacing the SP071621 that is attached to a S244T is there a different lateral assembly than the SX244T due to the 2" PVC piping? Bubbles and sand are shooting out of the return jets and i have already replaced the sand.
Reply
Bryan, There is only one lateral assembly for the S244T. If you are getting sand back into the pool, you will need the SX244DA.

Thank you for the response. I did purchase the SX244DA along with a new Multi Valve which i think is where the sand is getting in

Thanks Bryan!

So i replaced the Multiport Valve SP071621, the lateral assembly SX244da and put in new pool sand, 300lbs. Still getting sand from the filter into the pool. And yes i am sure its sand :) . would air in the system cause sand?
Reply
Hi Bryan, Those are the 3 items that 99.9% of the time fix sand getting back into your pool (i.e. new sand, new valve and new laterals). What size pump do you have paired up with the filter? Maybe if you have a super-powerful pump, i.e. a pump that is putting out a 150 Gallons Per Minute (G.P.M) and your filter is only designed to handle 70 G.P.M then maybe this could cause the problem. I have not heard of air in lines causing sand back in the pool but if you can fix this then I would definitely suggest doing so.

Hayward sand filter, valve on top. Label says "Var-Flo XL." Looking to replace the gasket inside under the top piece; leaks in different positions. It is not just an O-ring

Hi Norman, the replacement rotor w/ gasket for the Hayward Vari-Flo XL multiport valve is 4703-23. Here is a guide called "How to Replace a Spider Gasket on a Multiport Valve" that also may assist.

Hi Lynda, We would suggest a valve tune up kit. If you do have the SP071621 Valve then you will need this SP071621 Valve Tune Up Kit. Can you confirm the model # of your valve?
