How does the dual speed feature of this pump work?
Reply
Some dual speed pumps have a toggle switch in the back of the motor to change speeds manually, but many do not. Generally you would need to tie this dual speed pump into one of our dual speed pump timers/controllers. One of the more popular models is the Digital PE153 series. This timer has 3 functions: one to turn the pump on and off, a second auxiliary to switch from high speed to low speed, and then a third for any other piece of pool equipment. You may view these controllers through the following link: Intermatic Timers

I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?

Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.

Does the pump come with union fittings? If not, what are the parts I need?
Reply
The Whisperflo Dual speed Fullrated 1HP pump (part number 011486) does not come with union fitttings. The part you would need part number 11201-0154. Thses unions are sold individually so you would need 2; one for the suction side and one for the discharge.

Pump no longer will operate in LOW speed. Works fine in HIGH speed. Any ideas on troubleshooting?

Hi, Sean. I would recommend testing the Run Capacitor and or Pool Windings. Instructions are available in our How to Test a Pool Pump Capacitor Blog and How To Test a Pool Pump Motor Winding Resistance guide.

When looking at this item, do I get both the pump and the motor for the same price or are they sold separately. I really only just need the motor. Thank you.
Hi, Luis. This is the correct complete pump which will include the motor. You can replace just the motor with P/N B2982 along with the Tune Up Kit GOKIT32 or GOKIT32SALT.

I am interested in knowing your return policy. I am looking at the Pentair WFDS-4. If I receive the pump in nonworking or defective or nonfunctional condition; can I return the pump to you? is there any cost to me for the return of a faulty pump?
Thank you,

Hi, Mike. If you received the pump and it's considered DOA, it can be returned at no cost to you. Also, review Pentair's Product Warranty Information.
