Does above replace my assembly require gasket?

Chris, The Key, Cover & Handle Assembly 2"- Black (SPX0715BA3) does not come with any gasket or o-rings for the Hayward Multiport Valve - 2" SP715 & SP716 Models. The Valve Seat Gasket 2in (O-322), the Cover O-ring (SPX715Z1) and other parts can be found via the Hayward Multiport Valve - 2" Models SP715 & SP716 Diagram.

Thanks.

I purchased the cover kit SP715BA and put in on - and it leaked. Do you have a diagram on how to line up the piece.

Hi Diane. Sorry about the trouble. Here is a link to the diagram of the part from Hayward. You can also reference this instruction sheet from a similar Hayward assembly. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Can the key be turned in either direction when turned to backwash? Are there specific directions when turning the key?
Reply
Hi, It's better to turn the handle clockwise. Make sure that the pump is "Off" before turning the valve to the desired position, then turn the pump "On." You can review our How To: Backwash a Hayward DE Filter for a instructions.

My assembly's labels are the opposite of those shown. Will this assembly work with my pump? Will I have to install this replacement "upside down"?

Hi Greg, There is only one way to install this item. If you can provide the model of the valve that you have we can confirm if this is the correct part for that valve.

Can this Key Assembly be used with The Aqua Ultraviolet Ultima ii 2000 Filter.
Reply
Hello Victor, the 4701-15B key assy will not work on an Aqua Ultraviolet 200 series. Depending on whether you have 1-1/2" part A50061 or 2" part A50062, to get parts from Ultima 800-454-2725.

I tried the tuneup kit with the SP0715 but it did not seem to fix problem, even replacing spider gasket. I want to purchase this insert unit. What else do I need to purchase with this Key cover and handle kit so I can have all the parts needed. Also, will I have to disassemble this in order to add additonal o-rings etc. or can I just drop it in with the cover gasket.

Good Morning Karen, This is the entire top piece. I just recommend lubricating the o-rings and gasket very good when putting this top on. If you don't have any this is it.Magic Lube O-ring Lubricant 1 Oz. Teflon - 630

I, too, noticed that the label on my Hayward Vari-Flo SP715XR50 has the labels reversed from what you show. It shows "backwash" at the top by the main label and "filter" at the bottom. Is this going to cause an issue? And if I order this do I need to order a new spider gasket, also or does it come with the replacement? I am ready to order but do I need to install so label is at bottom for filter?

I want to replace a hayward multivalve. The handle has sp710 fl and pat #3640310. It measures almost 9 " across. I believe 2 inch about 25 years old. I just want to replace the top assembly.

Hi, Keith. The SP710 has 1-1/2" ports not 2" and will use p/n SPX0710XBA17 (Cover Handle Assy). The Diverter Gasket - SPX0710XD and Cover O-ring - SPX0710XZ3 are not included with p/n SPX0710XBA17.

Good Afternoon, my Key, Cover Handle and Assembly needs replacing; the model number SP715XR50. will this product replace this part that is cracked. Thank-you

I think this is the replacement for me, I have the sp715xr50. Is the only thing I need to do is unscrew the screws around the top. I will probably have to do this myself. I am handy, but not a mechanic. Can I do this myself?

Christine, You can use this part but filter position on this key assembly is at the 12 o clock position and backwash is at 6 o clock. On a Hayward d.e. filter, those positions are reversed. So when you install this, you will need to make sure those settings are at the correct orientation on the valve.

We have a Hayward model S-310S filter with a Hayward multi port valve, model SP71. Even though one is not supposed to change valve positions while the filter is running, I did and something cracked with water squirting out everywhere. Will Hayward key cover and handle assembly #SPX0715BA3 work for us? Thank you for your help!

Hi, Claire. In order to confirm, we will need to know the exact filter model your valve or the plumbing size of your valve.

I want to clarify exactly what comes with this Hayward Key cover and assembly replacement. My old Hayward SP0715X62 MPV is old and leaking from top and backwash side, so I want to replace all the guts, O rings and gaskets. Therefore, if I purchase this unit, do I need to purchase anything else to effectively replace all the possible causes for leaks (sans the lower body which is in good shape)?

Hi there. When I move my Hayward SP0715G11M into normal running position, it leaks water out the waste output. Do I need a new gasket, or entirely new valve head? It’s also dripping where it connects to the filter... new o-ring?
Thanks!
Hi, Michael. Your issues can be resolved by replacing the o-ring and gaskets which are available in the SP715 Multi Port Valve Tune Up Kit - APCK1034 (W/O Spring) or APCK1034S (w/ Spring) along with the Valve Tank O-ring - GMX600F.

I have a SP0715G11M. Will this replace it? And---the part that broke on mine is the stem the handle connects to. a) I could not find the bottom part alone and b) the tiny O-ring and gasket around the top part, where the handle goes through, have fallen out and I'm not sure how they go back. Should I just get the whole thing and stop trying to save money? Oops, the big O-ring just fell down the hole into the pipes. Guess that answers that question.

Hi, CC. This Cover Assembly - SPX0715BA3 will fit your valve. It would b best to replace the valve. In order to locate the complete valve, I will need to know the model of your filter.

It worked fine before this. Somebody who did not know how to backwash forced the handle and broke it.
Thank you! Here are photos. You can see the broken part (a dogsitter tried to backwash and did not know how, ended up forcing it). By vale please tell me you don't mean everything up to the pipes...It is about 2 to 3 years old.
This does not include the spider gasket. Does it include the spring & other parts that are in the multiport kit APCK1034S ? If not then I may opt to buy the whole valve assembly
Hi, Tanner. This Cover Assembly - SPX0715BA3 is the correct replacement. The Cover O-ring - SPX0715Z1 and the Valve Seat Gasket - SPX0715D are not included.

I have a Hayward vari-flo Valve sp715xr50. Handle broke off but was hard to turn previously (15 years old). I need to replace the handle but wondering if I should replace all the gaskets and o-rings at the same time. What should I purchase?
Reply
You do not necessarily have to replace the seals and gaskets as well unless you can tell that the valve is leaking out of the waste port and or the handle does not spring back into position when released. If you decide to replace those other seals and gaskets you can use APCK1034S which includes the spring or APCK1034 which will not.
