What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

I have this motor, it just hums. I removed it and shaft spins freely. Could it be the capacitor ? And if so where can I get one.
Reply
Hi Jeff, It could be the capacitor, this motor uses the 25MFD 370Volt Run Capacitor (17586325).

I have a 7-193634-06 that I want to replace. You list the B130 here as a replacement for mine, however mine has an SF of 10.5 and you list 1.2 for B130. Will it still work?
Reply
If your part number on your motor is as you provided being the 7-193634-06 then this is the correct replacement motor. It looks the 10.5 number that you are referring to is actually the amps rating on the motor.

I have one of these that just blew and I am wondering if I could replace it by a lower HP motor such as the B228SE since it is only feeding my waterfall through a dedicated CJ250 filter (125gpm). I only use it 5 minutes a day to cycle the water a bit so that algae does not settle and on occasion 2-4 hrs straight. Thanks.

I will need to know what the distance from your pump to the waterfall is in feet so I can calculate the flow rate to be able to confirm if you can decrease the horsepower on your pump.

I just purchased 5224X (B130) - Motor 56j Thrd Full 2hp (b130), could you please let me know the seal kit I need. Thank you!

The seal kit will be dependant on the model of the front pump housing that the motor bolts to. Please call in with that model name or number so we can cross reference that for you. If that information is not legible then you can email photos of that housing to upload@inyopools.com.

Which seal do I need for the 5bj (B130) motor to attach to a Hayward pump?

The seals and gaskets depend on the model name or number of the front pump housing that the motor is bolted to. You can provide us that information so we can check for you or if it is not legible then you can always email us an image of that pump housing to upload@inyopools.com so we can review it and advise.

Hi. I installed my Century Centurion model B130 up to my Jandy JPH2.0CP two years ago and it ran flawlessly until today. Now, it’s hot, and repeatedly cycles in its attempt to start; and has a loud hum when doing so. Do you think it’s the motor or could it possibly be the capacitor?
Reply
Hi, Tom. All those symptoms are indicators that the motor is bad. However, you can test the capacitor just to be sure. Steps are available in our How to Test a Pool Pump Capacitor blog.

The rear end bearing is part number 5270-31 and the front end bearing is part number is 5270-36. The seal kit for a chlorine pool is the GOKIT1 and for a saltwater pool is the GOKIT1SALT. You have a Max Flo.

I have this motor installed on what I believe is a Hayward SP4000L. The motor's bearings are going bad and I'm preparing to replace them so I'll at least need a shaft seal... Do you have a seal kit available for this pump? Thanks!
Hi Marc, Thanks for the photo! You have a Hayward Northstar Pump and if your pump is from prior to 2003 then you will require this Hayward Northstar Shaft Seal Prior to 2003 and if your pump is from after 2003 then you will require this Hayward Northstar Shaft Seal After 2003. I plan on purchasing the same Centurion motor which has a Serial# 13413CH and part #159988-06, Horse Power 2.0, Frame X56J, SF 10.5, CAT is B130. I think this picture on your website is the one, but it has a Serial# 26413CH. Is this the same as mine? My flange is round, it has a 'hump' and it says 'Switchless Motor' on the top. I'd sure appreciate any information before I purchase it from your company. Thanks! Laura

Laura, yes, your part number 159988-06 came back as a direct match for the Century Motors A.O. Smith 2 HP Round Flange 56J Full Rate EE Motor - B130. The A.O. Smith 2 HP Round Flange 56J Full Rate EE Motor - B130, would be the correct replacement. The serial numbers are unique to the individual motors and vary on every motor, as long as the rest of the specifications match than you have found your replacement.

Hi,
I’m looking to replace this motor attached Hayward pump SP-3020X25. What kind of seal do I need? Will this require any other parts?

Your pump appears to be the old style Hayward Super II; the correct gasket kit is the GOKIT2 or the GOKIT2SALT.

I just purchased my home and the pools pumps for the sheer decent is not working. Will this replacement pump work? Do I need to buy anything other than the pump?
Do the this replacement motor have a computer board? I was advised against getting a Century replacement due to them having a faulty circuit board. Also other parts would you recommend me getting?
The B130 is a standard construction single speed motor. It does have a Terminal Board - SCN-513, but there is no printed circuit board that operates any of the functions of the motors.

Hello! I am needing to replace my Century Motor (159988-06), and basically everything that attaches to it (Impeller, mounting plate, gaskets, etc), but I"m having trouble finding a comprehensive list of the parts that I need to purchase. Can you help? Attached is a pic of my Hayward pump housing (SP4015X20NS), and the motor that I took out. I drew the arrow to show that I basically need everything forward from that arrow. Please help, it's driving me nuts trying to figure this out.
Hi there, I have the B130 (serial #26212J20200286) and now when the timer turns on, nothing happens, except for a humming noise coming from the motor. Took out the filter basket and there's no debris and the impeller spins freely. Do I need to replace the entire unit or is there a repair than can be done to save it? Thanks!

Hi Steve, This is most likely a bad capacitor. Here is the link to purchase the Run Capacitor for your B130 motor.

Thanks Alex. Is there a difference between this one and the USN1202? I’m thinking our original motor was the USN1202, and the crappy home warranty company replaced it with a rebuilt B130. I remember replacing the capacitor on the end of the motor (not on top) before the rebuilt motor was installed. The model number is worn off of the pool pump, so I can’t be sure of which one it is. I guess the question is does it matter which motor we use? Is one better than the other? Thanks, Kim
Hi Kim, Yes there is a difference between the B130 and USN1202 the B130 is going to be more powerful as it is a Full Rate Motor compared to the USN1202 being an up rated motor. We would suggest staying with the B130.
