What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

I have a 7-184843-03 12.2/3.4 amps will the higher amps on this replacement pump be too much for the system to handle?

Hi Eddie, No the higher amps on this motor will not be a problem for your system and this BN50V1 motor is what we suggest for your 7-184843-03 motor.

Good Morning- This is the replacement motor that you recommended. Before I purchase, I just wanted to confirm ...
1- That this is compatible with my Hayward Pump (since the motor is a Century)
2- That the 1.5HP is sufficient- My current pump says 2 (please see picture)
Thanks for the help!
Hi, Kristy. Yes, this BN50V1 is the correct replacement. Your labeled HP rating is not the actual motor HP since it has the SPL code.So along with this BN50V1 motor, you will need the Hayward PowerFlo Matrix Pump Tune Up Kit - GOKIT74.

Will this motor replace my present motor (see picture). And if so, what Go Kit should i use?
Hello Sash, yes this is a suitable replacement motor for your pump model 3420610. We also recommend replacing the seals and gaskets when replacing a pump motor. The seals needed will be key numbers 11 and 14 on this parts diagram that you can view by clicking here.
