I have an older hayward s-200 sand filter with a 712 side mount multiport valve that needs to be replaced. Do they make a replacement for it? The number 712 is all that I can make out on the sticker on the valve which has a 6 position selector.

Hi Tim, The old Hayward S200 filters did use a SP0712 valve which was replaced by the Hayward SP710X32 For 1-1/2" Plumbing and the Hayward SP0715X32 for 2" Plumbing. Either of these valves will attach to your S200 sand filter however the plumbing ports going into the valve may be in a slightly different location than your 712 valve so you may have some re-plumbing. Also there is a Generic Version of the SP710X32 For 1-1/2" Plumbing and a Generic Version of the Hayward SP0715X32 for 2" Plumbing, you will save some money by going with the generic version.

I have a very old Hayward side mount sand filter model # SLE42082Z1
The model number on my Vari-Flo valve that needs replacing only reads ------X6-- and serial number -20c30-
Is this the correct valve for a direct replacement?
Reply
Hi Ray, The only Hayward Vari-Flo valve which has an X6 in the model # would be the SP0710X62 so I am guessing this is the correct valve for you. If for some reason this valve does not work then you can always return it within 30 days in new and unused condition.

Is there any way to change the big nut that attaches the valve assembly to the sand filter? Mine is cracked

Debby, I'm sorry to say there is not a way to replace that nut, you would require a new valve.

Hi, Russell. SP710XA13 is the part number of the valve body. To confirm which valve you need, please provide the model # of the filter tank that you have.

are part numbers sp0710x62 and spx0710x32 interchangeable?
Reply
Tim, yes, the Side Mount 1 1/2" Valve for Sand - SP0710X62 and Vari-Flo Multiport Valve 1-1/2", Sand - SPX0710X32 are interchangeable. Additionally, if you would like to save some money, the Valve, 1 1/2" W/ Hayward Plumbing (Sand) CLEARANCE! - SM1-HPX62 would work as well.

Hi Dave, Could you let us know the model # of the Hayward filter you have? There should be a label on the side of your pool filter with this information, it probably says S200S, S240S, S244T, etc.. Please click on the reply link below to supply this information and then we can make the proper recommendation. Thanks!

I have a Hayward Pro Series/Model S244S/Serial 1821/300 lbs sand filter. I need to purchase a valve body. How do I know if I need a 1 1/2" or 2" port?
Reply
The "port" size refers to the plumbing size needed to attach to the valve - 1-1/2 requires 1-1/2" pipe and 2" requires 2" pipe. If your plumbing is not labeled or if the markings are faded or not visible, try to measure the diameter of the pipe. 1-1/2" pipe has a 1.9" outside diameter and 2" pipe is 2.3" in diameter. The 2" version of the same valve for your Hayward S244S sand filter is this Valve for 2" Side Mount Hayward Filters - SP0715X62.
