 Reply

A  Answered on 1/19/2009 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

This product will stop a pin hole leak in a vinyl liner pool if the leak is at the floor of the pool. The chemical is heavier than water so it will sink to the bottom.

How do I use Fix a Leak?
 Reply

A  Answered on 2/10/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Depending on the type of leak you are looking to repair, there are certain steps you must take before and after using the product. If you are using Fix-A-Leak to seal a pinhole leak in a pool liner you will want to set your filter vale to recirculate. If you don't have a filter valve on your filter then you can remove the filter element from the filter. Once this has been done you can slowly pour the product through the skimmer. The product has very simple instructions on the container. If you want to see Fix-A-Leak in action, feel free to check out this > >video.

After the product is used, it should be allowed to cure for 24-48 hours depending on the leak. It would be best to go swimming before the Fix-A-Leak is used. If that's not possible, I would recommend waiting 12 hours before resuming swimming.

Do I turn everything off for 24-48 hours? Or keep circulating through the filter for 24-48 hours? Continue to recirculate water until the leak has stoppedMark level of water in pool and check for 2-3 days to determine if the leak has stopped. After the leak has stopped and given the proper time to cure do not run pump for 48 hours. as well doing this leave solar off the complete time

In this case since you have ruled out the majority of the main cases of leaks it would be in your wisest interest to get a leak detection crew with the proper equipment to test all lines for pressure fluctuations. Likely an underground leak somewhere.

does this product work on suction leaks?
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/21/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Ken. This product can be used to stop suction leaks but not in a swimming pool. In order for this product to work on a suction leak, water circulation will have to be reversed. For more info, you can visit www.fixaleak.com.

Have cracks around my skimmer, can I use this to fix them. Is their a aerosol can to spray on cracks? Have fiber glass pool.

Hi, Larry. Unfortunately, this item will not work on cracks. I would recommend using the AquaMend Underwater Repair Epoxy Putty, 4 Oz. Stick - 88-265-1005.

I have a leak under the concrete in one of the PVC pipes that leads to a jet in the swim out lounge in my inground pool. Will this product work? If so, how much should I use? Where to I put it in to make sure it gets to the underground pipe?

Hi, Tom. This product can be used to seal hairline cracks in pvc pipes. Click this link >Fix-A-Leak/Pool to read application instructions.

Will the fix a leak affect plants when drained out of hot tub?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/25/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Stacey M.

Hello Carly, this should be safe, but this bonds to the plumbing and there wouldn't that much running through the lines that wouldn't effect your plants.

does this really work

Yes we have sold many bottles of fix a leak with great success. You do need to be realistic about its abilities as will not fix cracks in the pool shell for example.

Hi, Rich. This product can be used but for a permanent solution I would recommend replacing the gaskets and the drain plug.

i have a Marque Spa which leaks. I've used Fix A Leak before with success. My question: After filling the spa, can I add the Fix A Leak right away or does the water need to be at operating temp before adding? Thanks

A  Answered on 6/2/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, George. The spa does not have to be at operating temperature. It can be freshly filled at room temperature. Instructions are available via http://www.fixaleak.com/hot-tubs-spas.

Product just arrived. I have a salt water inground pool. Pool leak stops when goes below skimmer. I have been using the bottom drains. There is no water in the skimmer. Do I have to put water in the skimmer before using? And if so after adding, do I put on recirculate and pull from bottom drains?

Hi, Evelyn. Yes, you will have to get the water level above the skimmer before adding this product.

I have a 25,000 gallon in ground vinyl pool that is salt water. I lose a 1/4" to 1/2"total per day, and I cannot find any visual leaks. I understand that if it is a 1/8" of less in an underground pipe it will fix it on the return side. What about the suction side? I it happens to be in the vinyl of the pool will it find it.?

A  Answered on 4/27/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Steve M.

Hi, Richard. In order to get this product to fix a suction leak, you must reverse the flow of water, to force the material through the leak under pressure. Preferably 5-10 psi. until the leak has stopped. That is because in most cases suction lines only leak water when the filter pump is shut off. Normal circulation will simply draw FIX-A-LEAK away from the leak and if the pump is shut off the material will simply not get to the leak.

I think i might try this. I believe it is leaking on the suction side. How do I reverse water?

How do you control the pressure to "preferably 5-10 psi"?

I have a plaster pool that seems to have a leak..I am suspecting it's a return line because if the pump is off I don't lose water but with pump running it drops. My question is can you run a cartridge filter ( hayward 4030) without cartridges? I tried it last year with old pump and it wasn't working

Hi, Mark. Yes, you can operate the Hayward 4030 without the cartridges.
