Can the light be changed without draining the pool?
Reply
Yes you can replace the bulb in your pool light with this LED bulb without needing to drain your pool water. You will first need to turn off power to the pool light at your breaker then go to the pool light and remove the pilot screw which is located on the face ring of your light. Once the pilot screw is removed this will allow you to bring your entire light fixture up on to your pool deck where you can then replace the bulb. The replacing of the bulb is as simple as unscrewing the old bulb and screwing in the new bulb. I would also suggest replacing your lights lens gasket when replacing the bulb, the two most popular would be the Hayward Astrolite Lens Gasket and the Pentair Amerlite Lens Gasket. We also have a great Video on How to Replace a Swimming Pool Light Bulb which will walk you through the process.

is there a remote control to stop the changing colors or does it cycle the different colors constantly?
Reply
The light would be controlled through a standard light switch or your pool control system. Flipping your light switch on and off relatively quickly will cycle the light to the next color or next light show. There are 16 modes, 7 modes are fixed colors and 9 modes are rotating color shows.
Reply
Can the light be stopped on one particular color? I tried downloading the owners manual and there seems to be a bad link
Reply
Yes the light can be stopped on a color there are 7 fixed colors white, red, green, blue, gold, cyan and violet. You would cycle to the fixed colors by flipping your pool light switch relatively quickly. In addition to the fixed colors there are 9 color shows..... Evening Sea (slow animation of blue and red), Evening rivers (slow animation of green and red), Riviera (slow animation of blue and green, Rainbow (slow animation of all colors), River of Colors (slow animation of all colors followed by Four Seasons), Disco (fast animation followed by Rainbow) and Party (Fast animation followed by River of Colors).

What is the correct wattage for lighting equivelent to the existing 12V 300W bulb?

Hi Dane, I would suggest the 12V 35 Watt Pure Colors LED Pool Bulb as an equivalent replacement to a 12V 300 Watt Bulb.

What is the proper wattage of LED bulb for a 16' x 32' pool, we currently have a 12 Volt Hayward Astrolite.

For a 16' x 32' Pool I would suggest the 35 Watt Bulb, since you have a 12V pool light currently you would require the 12 Volt 35 Watt Pure Colors LED Pool Bulb

Hi Curt, These light bulb will not fit into any light fixture. If you can send us photos of the light fixture along with the dimensions we can try to identify the light fixture and confirm if this bulb will fit.

Can these lights be used to cycle colors when used on a timer and if you can when the timer goes off and turns back on will it be the color you had it on previously or will it change.
Reply
Yes the Pure Colors Bulb can be used to cycle colors with a timer and it does have memory so if the light is turned off for more than 20 seconds then the next time the light is turned on the light will remember the last color show it was on.

I need to order one LED light bulb for the spa ( it seems smaller in size than the the ones in the pool), 3 LED light bulbs for the pool ( want the color changing ones). Just don't know which ones to order. Could you help me please!
Reply
Hi Yemao, Yes you are correct the spa bulb is normally smaller. Right now we just have the pool lights in stock, however in roughly 10 days we will have the smaller 12V Spa bulbs in stock, so you may want to purchase the pool bulbs now and come back in 10 days to purchase the spa bulb. The spa bulb will only be available in 12V and not 120V.

My pool has two lights, one on each side. If I were to replace both, how do I sync up the colors so that when I do change them with the light switch technique, they are on the same color or animation?
Reply
Hi Patrick - As long as the two lights are wired to the same on / off switch then they will automatically synchronized together. For example if when you turn your light switch on and off both lights come on and off together then you are fine. If they are wired to separate switches then you can start them off on the same color show but over time they will fall out of synch.

If I replace my pool light switch with one that has an on/off switch + dimmer slider, would that effect this light at all? Do LEDs work this way, I'm not even sure.

Hi Madonis12 unfortunately our LED bulb does not work with a dimmer switch and we are unaware of any pool LED bulbs that do work on a dimmer. The Pure Colors LED Bulb does work with a standard on / off switch.

I believe I have an amerilite pool light bur how would I know for sure? Also how would I know if it's 12V or 120V? Thanks You!
Reply
The best bet would be to remove the light fixture from the niche in the wall of the pool. To do this you will turn off the breaker to the light then get in the swimming pool and remove the pilot screw at the top of the light face ring. This will then free the light from the wall of the pool and you can bring the light fixture up onto your deck. There should be a label on the light housing which will give you the manufacture and model # of your light. If this information has worn off then you can check your dimensions against the Pentair Amerilite Dimensions or the Hayward Astrolite Dimensions and if they match up then this bulb will fit. The voltage information should be on the light housing but if it has worn off then you can remove the bulb from inside the light fixture and the voltage information should be right on the light bulb.

Hi Ken, You will need the PureLine PL5809 LED bulb which is the 120 volt bulb instead of the PL5808 for your model Pentair fixture. The Guardian Silicone Lens Gasket (LPL-G-P) or the Amerlite OEM Lens Gasket (79101600) can be used as replacements for that light fixture.

CAN I USE THIS ONE BULB IN PENTAIR INTELLIBRITE LED 500W MODEL NO 601305?
THANK YOU
Reply
Hi Irene, No the PureColors replacement bulbs do not work as a replacement bulb for the Pentair Intellibrite. The Intellibrite uses a LED PCB Board where the Pure Colors LED bulb is a standard screw in bulb. I don't like the light fixtures that use a board as when the board goes bad you have to replace your entire light fixture. We do carry the Complet PureColors Light fixture which does fit into the same light niche that your Intellibrite uses. The Pure Colors Light fixtures uses a Screw in LED Bulb, so if the bulb ever goes bad it is an easy bulb replacement. We also have a Video on How to Replace a Pool Light Fixture which you may find helpful.

Hi Mark, We are not pulling anything up on Amerlite p/n 74428100 however as long as your light uses a standard screw-in style bulb then the Pure Colors will work on your Amerlite. You will want to double check your voltage as the bulb is available in 12V or 120V, normally this is listed on the face of your bulb or on the back of the light housing. No special switch is needed for this bulb, you would simply change the colors through a standard light switch by flipping the switch on and off to cycle through the colors.

Hi Paul, when replacing the bulb you will want to replace your lens gasket. There should be a label on the side of your light housing that will give you a model name and # for your light, if you can supply that to us then we can suggest the proper gasket. With rope lighting you will need to install a track under your coping, purchase a light tower and then the fiber optic rope light. Hi Jon, Yes this would mean you just need to replace the bulb we do see where you ordered the PL5808 bulb and our suggestion was the PL5810. We are not 100% sure if the PL5808 will fit in the SP-561 but we do know that the PL5810 will. I would suggest trying the PL5808 bulb first as if it does fit in your housing then it will be brighter than the PL5810. If the PL5808 is too large then you can return that bulb and use the PL5810 which is a little smaller. We would also suggest replacing your Hayward DuraLite Lens Gasket.

Will this bulb work for this fixture? The sticker on the fixture indicates model # SP 571, but the lens indicates it is model # SP-540-Z-1.
I ask because I already have an LED bulb that measures 6 5/8 diameter that does not quite seat in the socket before the lip of it contacts the edge of the fixture.
I have this bulb and it’s about 3 years old. It has started flickering and changing programs after about an hour of operation. I have checked the fixture and it doesn’t seem to have water in it. The switch is good, I’ve checked it too. Is it time to replace this light? Or anything else that could cause this? I have an Amerilite 12v fixture.

If the fixture is good and so is the switch then the bulb must have failed. They have about 50k hours of operation. It is likely that the bulb board shorted.

I have a American Products R-30 bulb, 12 volts and 100 watts. I was inquiring about a suitable LED white light or LED color changing light replacement in which I only have to change the bulb and not any of the wiring that goes back to the circuit breaker. If you could give me model information for both the white light and color changing LED I would appreciate it. Also, if I purchase a light from your company and it does not work to satisfaction in my pool what is the return policy.
Hi, Jay. Based on your fixture model your options are P/N PL5846 (White), PL5866 (Color V2), or PL5816 (Color V1). The product can be returned if you're not satisfied, it can be return within 30 days, however, returns are subjected to a restocking fee up to 20 percent.

I have an old Anthony Sylvan Pool. I want to switch over to a color changing LED bulb. My pool is about 35,000 gallons. Wondering if this bulb will work for my pool. I attached photos of the old pool light labels.
Is there a remote included with this bulb? If not what is the procedure for changing the colors and programs?

Hi, Terrence. This LED bulb does not include a remote. It can be controlled using a light switch.

How long does a bulb last, my last bulb was not color changing, does that make a difference,
How do I know what gasket size to purchase
Reply
These LED bulbs have an approximate life of 50k hours and those between a standard bulb does make a difference. In order to confirm the gasket that you will need you will need to know the model name or number of the light fixture itself usually located on the rear of it. If that is not legible you can always email us images to upload@inyopools.com so a tech can review and further advise.

Will this work with a Pentair 569964 fixture?
Hi, Aaron. W will need the fixture series number(s) in order to confirm compatibility.

Hello again, well I was super happy with both of the lights for a few weeks! Went to turn them on today and the pool light is barely lighting. :( The spa light is still going brightly but the pool light is dim and flickering. How do I get a replacement completed with the warranty? Thanks!

I took the fixture out again and unfortunately the other label has disappeared. The build itself is a 100W 12v screw in style bulb. So I am assuming as long as the fixture is large enough this bulb will work, can you confirm? There was some water in the fixture, do offer a repair part or should I just tighten it down a little better? Thanks!
Aaron, This bulb will work with your fixture.

well this i bulb a Pentair the bulb type is a MR16 75 WATT SERIES 600019 600020 MODEL #7821XX

Hi, Chris. There is NOT an LED bulb available for that bulb type. You will have to replace the entire fixture. The IntelliBriite Color LED Fixtures will work.

I have a Pentair light that uses a 130V 250W (JD250MC) bulb. I would like to change to a LED light bulb. Can you help me?

LED replacement bulbs only fit in specific housings, so we will need to know the make and model of your light fixture. The information tag should be located on the back of the light. Remove the pilot screw, pull the fixture out of the niche, and flip it over to see the information tag.

I have 3 of these along with one Pentair GloBrite. Looking at the manuals for both, it seems that it will not be possible to sync the color shows on the same circuit, correct? In other words, I'll need a separate controller and transformer for the GloBrite so that I can set the GloBrite to blue (program 8) and the PureColors to blue (program 12), correct?
Reply
Hello Brian, yes that is correct that these two brand lights cannot be synced to one another and that you will need a separate switch or controller for each to try to set the color similar to one another.
