I have a variable speed pump will this work with the reduced flow rates when it dials down
Reply
Good morning Jim, yes this will work with a variable speed pump. It would need to run at least to achieve the 30 GPM to activate the flow switch. At RPMS that would be around 1700-2100.

what is the average cost to switch to a salt water pool system?
Reply
Hello Greg- The only expenses when switching over to salt will be the Chlorinator and however much salt you will need to get your pool to the correct salt level. Here is a blog that will help: http://www.inyopools.com/Blog/converting-your-pool-to-saltwater/.

What are the differences between 7700 and 7709 models?
Reply
The PL7700 has a 2-year warranty because the metal plates in the cell have more coatings giving it more durability. The PL7709 model has less giving it a one year warranty.

I have a Hayward Goldline Prologic Automation and Chlorination system which runs the pool pumps, spa pump, lights, cleaner, and salt system. Apparently, the salt part of the system is no longer working, and I was told I needed to replace the entire circuit board. If I purchased your system, would it integrate with the Goldline system, or does it completely replace that system?
Reply
Hi, Chuck. Unfortunately, this system will not be able to integrate with your ProLogic Controller. This will be installed as a standalone piece of equipment.

i have a jandy aquapure pure1400,can i replace with this system? thank you
Reply
Hi George, Yes you can use the PureLine Crystal Pure Salt System as a replacement for the Jandy AquaPure. You may have a little bit of plumbing to do but it should be minor. One thing of note is that if you have a Jandy AquaLink control system where you control all of your pool equipment from inside your home then you will not get salt readings on the indoor control panel. In conclusion, I think this would be a fantastic replacement for your Jandy Aqua Pure.

I am looking to convert from chlorine to salt system. would this system be what I need to convert? or would I need more parts for a full conversion?

Hi, Rick. You will need other accessories like a Check Valve, and a Zinc Anode to complete the installation. Check out our How To Install a Crystal Pure Salt Chlorine Generator guide for more info.

I have a 28 foot above ground pool and want to convert it to salt. Will this system work for that?
Reply
Hi Zach, this would be a perfect salt system for a 28' above ground pool and would be the one we suggest.

what is involved in cleaning the system and how long does it take

Hello, We recommend cleaning the salt cell once every 3 months. It should take less than 30 mins for cleaning. Here is a great article on how to do so. http://www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how_to_clean_a_hayward_aquarite_turbo_cell_.aspx

Can the cell be mounted vertically with the flow going down through it? I'd like to put it right at the outlet of my filter and before the valve that splits the flow into the 2 return lines, but there isn't a lot of horizontal space available.
Can this be plumbed into a 1.5" PVC system?
Reply
Hi Ed, Yes the cell can be installed vertically and it does come with the fittings to install into 1.5" plumbing.

I have a 26000 gal gunite pool with a sta rite de filter. The filter says not for salt water. Is this for warranty reasons or do I have to replace it to convert to salt?
Reply
Hi, Matt W. I've only seen that warning with stainless steel body filters. Your filter will have to be replaced before converting it to saltwater.

Just for clarity this is the filter I have. What would happen if I used it for a year or 2? Sta rite system 3 model s7d75
Reply
Matt W, The System 3 DE Filter 37 Sq. Ft. - S7D75 can be used with a saltwater pool. I know pool equipments has a warning that stated for fresh water only. Please provide a picture of that warning label.
Reply
From understanding, this warning is for seawater which is roughly 50,000 PPM and your filter would be fine for a standard salt pool which is at 3,000 PPM. They were putting these warning labels on filters prior to salt pools and has since drawn confusion. But in my opinion you will be fine with staying with that filter.

I had same filter. Converted to salt 6 years ago. Filter worked fine. As far as I know it is still going strong.

Hi I would like to purchase a salt chlorine generator and wanted to know if I can pick it up at your store tomorrow afternoon?

Hi, Cedrick. Unfortunately, we do not have a store; this will have to be shipped to you.

Currently using Easy Pool to treat my in ground pool. I've read that there is no need to replace pool water when switching to salt water from a chlorine pool. Is the same true for someone using Easy Pool?
Reply
Hi Greg, From my understanding, Easy Pool is just a proprietary blend of various chlorines so you would treat your pool like a standard pool meaning no need to replace any water when switching to salt.

I have a 20,000 gal in-ground pool what do you recommend I was always told to get bigger so it will use less salt
Reply
Hi Mark, Yes we would always suggest bigger. The larger system won't use less salt, it will just run for shorter amounts of time meaning you will get much longer life out of your salt cell. Also if you ever get into an algae situation with the larger unit you can really crank up the chlorine production.

I have an auto chlorine feeder on my piping would that be were I put the salt generator or whatever it’s called

Hi Mark, yes the salt cell would go in the place of the automatic chlorine feeder. Here is a Video on How to Install a Salt System which you may find helpful.

I have a 20.000 gal plus above ground pool with 1.5" flex hose tubeing for skimmer, pump and return flow jets. Nothing is hard piped at this time. Does this product come with the proper fittings, couplings, and any other hardware needed for installation? Also do you have a video on how to install this system to an above ground pool with flex tubeing.
Reply
Hi, Randy. This unit includes the plumbing fitting for the cell installation. There is not a video that shows installation with flex tubing.

I'm thinking about installing the salt system in my existing pool, which is currently winterized. I haven't started cleaning it yet. Does the pool need to be cleaned out and clear before installing the system?

Hi, Jaime. It would be best to have the pool cleaned up prior to having the unit installed.

Hello. My timer is about 150ft away from pool pump area in my basement, what would you suggest for wiring control box and timer? Thank you.
Reply
Could you let us know the max watts for your timer, this should be listed on the timer? Also what is the amperage of the circuit the timer is on 10 amps, 15 amps or 20 amps? Will this be wired 115V or 220V? The answers to these questions will help us determine the proper wire for you.

Hi. I understand if the water flow stops then the unit shuts off. My pump is on the timer, but the outlet that I am plugging this into is not. Is there a problem if I rely on the pump shutting off the flow, and therefore the generator? thanks!
Reply
Hi Ted, No that is not a problem if you rely on the pump shutting off the flow.

I have a 18000 gallon gunnite Jandy pool system whose APURE 1400 chlorine generator has failed (according to my pool company). I have been treating the pool as a chlorine pool but am considering a return to salt. Would this system work for me? Will there be any replumbing? Do I need anything not included in this package?
Reply
Hi Perry, I actually did this exact same thing on my pool (i.e. went from a Jandy AquaPure to a PureLine Crystal Pure) and have been really happy with the Crystal Pure. It has been a few years since I did the swap out but the cell length was a pretty close fit from the AquaPure to the Crystal Pure. The Crystal Pure comes with a whole bunch of adapters to accommodate many different plumbing sizes. I remember I did have to do a little bit of cutting and gluing of my pipe but it was very minor I think it might have been one cut since the PureLine was an inch or so longer or shorter, but overall it was quite easy. The PL7709 will come with everything you need for installation besides the salt. Also if you want to add a 115V Cord to the power supply that would be purchased separately.

My water is black and I have shocked it and added a jug of clorinate. When I put the salt in will the water clear up?
22,000 gal pool will add 12 bags of Gilligan. All is balance except free chlorine.
Reply
Hello, If you put salt in the pool, it will not clear it up. We recommend bringing a water sample into your local pool store and see what they would recommend.

When the salt cell dies on this system, cann you replace it with a better cell? I'm replacing another system that died, ended up with a massive algae growth (of course I was out-of-town for 3 weeks when it died), and I am trying to limit any more hemorrhaging of my bank account for the moment. I'll be using it in a 20K pool, so I expect the 40K rating to help it last a bit longer.

Hi Virginia, Yes when it is time to replace the cell you can replace with an upgraded cell. There is two options on the cell... first, there is the size of the cell (20,000 gallons, 40,000 gallons or 60,000 gallons) the larger the pool size the more blades inside of the cell which means you can produce more chlorine. 2nd is the warranty on the cell... the higher the warranty the more ruthenium coating on the blades meaning the longer the cell life. The 1-year warranty cell has a 5,000 hr. cell life, the 2-year warranty cell has a 7,000 hr. cell life and the 3-year warranty has a 10,000 hr. cell life. If you do upgrade to a larger pool size cell than make sure to change the cell size in your power supply to ensure your system works properly. Here is a link to the Crystal Pure Replacement Cells (key #1)

Hi David, the Pureline Pool Salt System - PL7709 is able to accept cells from Aquarite, Aquatrol and PureLine systems. Be sure to reprogram the system if you install a different-sized cell than you were previously using.
