How many hours per day should I run my pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

Can I run my pump without water?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hayward Pool pumps should never operate without water. The pump seal assembly in the pump volute (The area between the strainer basket and the pump motor) protects the pump motor from pool water. This seal assembly gets hot and is cooled by the pool water. If the pump is running without water, the seal will overheat and melt, If left running without water for a long period of time, the heat generated could damage the PVC pipe and other system components.

I have a Hayward SP1607X10. Is that a previous version of sp2607X10? Will parts for one be the same as parts for the other?

You are correct that is the predecessor to the to the sp2607x10. The parts will work for either pump.

Our pump motor quit working.

Written on 7/15/2018 by Guest

After deciding our pump was old enough and worth replacing with the motor, we shopped around and found the best pricing at INYO Pool. My husaband removes the old pump, connected the new pump and the electric. It was great to save money and time by doing it ourselves on our schedule!

Old pump was smoking

Written on 5/22/2018 by Guest

My old pump was smoking. It was very rusted and I needed to replace the motor. I searched the internet and found the best value with INYO. I had just ordered a new filter (old one cracked when it rains it pours) and was very satisfied with INYOPools service. I took a picture of the wiring before disconnecting the old pump to insure I was able to install the new pump correctly. The new pump was delivered in just 2 days and works great. The screws to remove the back cover of the old pump were rusted and very difficult to remove. I put some grease on the screws of the new pump and covered them with duct tape to avoid this in the future.
