Last summer we were getting a small trickle of sand from our sand filter into the pool. This spring I disassembled the filter to find this small elbow cracked right at the point where it enters the supply line inside the filter. This elbow is normally buried in sand - deep inside the filter.
The part that actually arrived looked a little different, using a push-to-connect fitting on the end that would otherwise be a compression fitting. Just cut off the end of the old tube in insert into the elbow.
With this replacement part, the filter now doesn't leak sand and is back up and running like new.
