I just bought a house with a pool. i'v never had a pool so my question is when the pump comes on automaticaly (it has a timer)what position is the jandy valve supposed to be turned to the main drain or skimmer?

You can turn the valve so that all the suction is going to the drain at the bottom of the pool, this will suck any dirt or debris on the bottom of the pool through the drain and clean through the filter. If you turn the valve so the suction is going to the skimmer then you will be pulling any leaves or debris off the surface of the pool. You can also set the valve in a half way position so you are pulling from both the skimmer and main drain. I hope this helps.

Why do the Jandy valves list ID and OD for each valve?
Reply
Each Jandy valve is designed to connect to two different size pipes. For example on a valve shown with ID 1 1/2" and OD 2", a 1 1/2" pipe can be glued inside the port or a 2" pipe can be glued on the outside of the port.

On Jandy Valve 2875, what is the function of the black knob?

The black knob on the valve should be filled with marine grease. The knob can be turned to force grease into the valve. This lubricates the valve and helps the handle turn.

I have this valve installed at my pump. I have a lot of air coming out of the pool jets and it doesn't stop. If I rotate the valve to vacuum and back to skimmer, it clears the air immediately. Do you have any suggestions?

I would recommend checking the gaskets/o-rings on the valve and pump housing. They may be letting air into the system.

I have elbows that say 2 on them that connect over the valve. What size valve do I need to order?

If your elbows fit 2" piping, you will want to buy the diverter valve that is 1 1/2" inside and 2" outside. The 2" elbow will then fit over the outside of the valve port. For lower maintanance you might consider buying the Neverlube version of this valve. They have a Teflon paddle and never have to be lubricated.

I am going to use this valve to replace the parts inside my existing valve (diverter, gaskets). My grease cap insert also broke off my current valve...can I remove the grease cap insert from this new one and screw it into my existing valve? I wouldn't think there would be any issues but checking to be sure.

If you have a part number off of your current valve I can confirm that the grease cap will fit on your current valve.
