Are there specs on how many microns this filter is rated at? Is there available another filter that won't allow finer particles to pass through?
Reply
As a rule, sand filters sift particles ranging from 20 to 40 microns in size. Cartridge filters can sift particles as small as 10 to 20 microns in size. DE filters can sift contaminants as small as 1 to 3 microns in size. This makes DE filtration at least five to six times more efficient than sand filtration systems.

Pool size is approximately 23,000 gal. (32 x 16 x 5 feet) what size Pentair clean and clear cartridge filter system do I need?
Reply
Hello Cindy - The CC100 or CC150 would be a sufficient size filter for your pool. The CC150 would not have to be cleaned as often.

I bought one of these filters 2 weeks ago and I don't know what type of cement to use on the black union fittings provided. I plan on cementing a white slip-on connector for then connecting a 2" SCH-40 PVC pipe. Do I use Universal CPVC/PVC cement, regular PVC cement, or what?

Hello PRJ - We would recommend the Rain & Shine blue pvc cement.

Is there an ideal pressure for the 160317 or any other of these filters to operate at for maximum efficiency and endurance?
Reply
The ideal pressure on the Clean and Clear Cartridge Filter 150 Sq. Ft. or any other filtration unit depends on several factors such as hp of pump, water flow and plumbing size. This filter has a maximum PSi of 50, so with a dirty filter you don't want the filter to exceed 50 PSI. The lower the pressure the more efficient the filter will be and the longer it will last, so you always want to go with a larger than normal unit.

I currently have a 48sqft Pentair DE filter with a 1.5hp Pentair pump. My pool is 36,000 gallons. What size cartridge filter would I need?
Reply
Hi Chris, If you are looking to change from DE to cartridge then the equivalent to your 48 Sq. Ft. DE Filter would be the Clean & Clear Plus 420 Cartridge Filter.

Are the 2" connector in line at the bottom (so I don't have to redo my plumbing)?
Thank you.

Xavier, Yes, the ports are at the bottom. Page 7 of the manual shows the connections: http://images.inyopools.com/cloud/documents/pentair-filters-clean-and-clear.pdf

Does this filter come with the cartridge oo do I have to buy one seperatly

It comes with the cartridge, no need to purchase another one unless you are just wanting an extra one for when you are cleaning the dirty one.

I currently have a sand filter with a 1 1/2 HP sta-rite by Pentair pump and an above ground pool with a 15000 gallon capacity.
What size cartridge filter should I use?
Reply
So if you're currently using an above pool pump model then I would recommend going with any 100 to 150 sq. ft. model cartridge filter. Now if you are using an inground pool pump model then you really need to confirm that motor model, part or catalog number then let us know so we can confirm for you.

My Pentailr CC 150 filter seems to sit lower on the internal structure than the one pictured here, mine sits lower with the top 4 openings on the internal circular plastic structure still visible. there are only 4 and above the filter, so is that wrong? yours is pictured with the filter all the way to the top. which is correct, which is how mine sat before I washed it the first time? Thanks

Hi, Jay. The filter cartridge should fit as shown in the image. If it's lower, then you're using the wrong cartridge with the center core.

I would like to know if you have a Pentair filter cartridge P/N 160317. I only need the cartridge NOT the whole assembly. If yes what would the cost be plus shipping. Thank you

Hi, I have a Century ST1202, 2HP, Max load 1.32 sf pump, and my swimming pool is approximately 32k gallons. I am planning to replace my Pentair Sand Filter - TA-100D with a cartridge filter, and I would like to run the pump for 8 hrs/day. Should I go with the Clean & Clear Cartridge Filter 150 or 200?
Thanks,
Reply
The Pentair Filter - TA-100D offer 100 gallons per minute flow rate. You will want a filter at 100GPM or higher. The Clean & Clear Cartridge Filter 100 sqft. - 160316 (100GPM) will turnover 48K gallons in 8-hours and the Clean & Clear Cartridge Filter 150 sqft. - 160317 (150GPM) will turnover 72K gallons in 8-hours. Either option would be a great choice for the upgrade, if you select the CC150 it will allow for less maintenance. *All Pentair filters require professional installation to honor the manufacturer's defect warranty.

Hi, would this filter work for a 10/11k gal in-ground pool, about 20/25 feet from equipment, small waterfall feature and built in pop-ups, with a max-e-glas II 2hp pump? I need to replace a cracked/leaky 15-year old S7M120. Also, any idea if the current plumbing is the right size (pic attached)? Thank-you!
can i get just the cartridge assembly bottom? i just bought the top from you now the bottom has a crack in it.

Thanks for contacting Inyo Pools, Yes you can just replace the bottom. However, we need to know the square footage of the filter to quote the right bottom
