My backwash valve (model SM-20-2 and assembly model SM2-PP2) liking from waist lane. I was told to install a new gasket (diffuser gskt f/2" fns)-I did -still liking. Did I install gasket wrong way or I install a wrong gasket? Please help. Thank you

Good Day Eduard. Given the model of the valve and the number for the gasket, those are a correct match. As for putting it in wrong, that is indeed a possibility. This is a link to How to Replace a Spider Gasket on a Multiport Valve from our site. Please take a look, perhaps something was missed.

Ordered a diverted valve gasket (had to buy whole assembly) for what Ithought was a Hayward filter. Turns out it has a Praher Valve Assembly. Received the wrong part. Only need to replace gasket. You show a 2" and a 1 1/2" 5 port gasket. What are the measurements, the pipe or the size of the gasket?
Reply
Hi Barbra, The 2in 5-Spoke Diverter Gasket measurements are - outside diameter is 6.75" and inside diameter (center hole) is 0.64". If you can reply with the with the manufacture and model of the valve you have we can get you the correct replacement gasket.

Hello Ron, You can add the adhesive to the channel and set the gasket in place. I would recommend using enough glue to ensure the gasket is properly fixed in place.

Hi. Yes, you can still use the adhesive that you have.

In the gasket installation video after the gentleman glues the gasket down he lubes it with something but doesn't say what. Is that a step that can be skipped? If not, what does he use?

In this video, the technician is using magic lube used on o-rings and gaskets. Some people use that on these gaskets and some do not. It doesn't hurt to use it.

We actually would need the model of the valve itself in order to cross reference that gasket. You can call in with that information or you can email us images of that valve through our support request page so we can assist in identifying it.

I replaced my Multi Function Valve last fall. When I try to vacuum my pool to waste, it will not work. Bypass and all the other functions are completely fine. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, Jean. The issue could be that the water level drops too low when vacuuming to waste or you're losing suction.

No typically not.I would check the grids and manifold for a tear or crack.

NO, usually your grid, fingers have tears inthem and need replacement

Yes, a worn spider gasket could cause de to leak into the pool

More likely there is a tear in the fabric of the filter element.

I replaced my spider gasket. When screwing multiport back together it seemed very tight (gasket might be too thick). Now my filter gauge is reading a very high pressure. I backwash and it soon gets high again. Is this related to the new gasket?

Hi, Phil. The issue that you're experiencing is not related to the new gasket.

I'm building so much pressure that when the pump shuts off,it blows back out the skimmer and then loses it's prime.

When replacing the spider valve gasket for a Praher model SM-20-2 do you need to glue it in or just use some lube? The how to video said to place the spider valve in winterization mode. Mine doesn't have that mode so what mode should it be placed in before changing the gasket?
Reply
It can be glued in place using RTV Silicone. That is the only substance we would recommend because it can be easily removed the next time you replace the gasket. If you do not have a winter position, you can set the valve handle between two positions. For example, if Filter and Backwash were next to each other, you would rotate the valve halfway between those positions and leave it there.

Hello Robert. The spider gasket for the Sta-Rite Multi-port valve 18201-0300 is referenced by the manufacturer as 14971-SM20E12. Part Number 271148, referenced to that, should have been correct, Sta-Rite 5 spoke spider gasket 14971-0005 is slightly larger in diameter at 7" in diameter with an inside diameter of 11/16", but is not identified as a replacement for your multi-port model. If you believe this option to not be correct either please provide several pictures of your multi-port for further investigation. Gasket, Valve Seat (14971-0005)
