Can the light be changed without draining the pool?
Reply
Yes you can replace the bulb in your pool light with this LED bulb without needing to drain your pool water. You will first need to turn off power to the pool light at your breaker then go to the pool light and remove the pilot screw which is located on the face ring of your light. Once the pilot screw is removed this will allow you to bring your entire light fixture up on to your pool deck where you can then replace the bulb. The replacing of the bulb is as simple as unscrewing the old bulb and screwing in the new bulb. I would also suggest replacing your lights lens gasket when replacing the bulb, the two most popular would be the Hayward Astrolite Lens Gasket and the Pentair Amerlite Lens Gasket. We also have a great Video on How to Replace a Swimming Pool Light Bulb which will walk you through the process.
Reply
is there a remote control to stop the changing colors or does it cycle the different colors constantly?
Reply
The light would be controlled through a standard light switch or your pool control system. Flipping your light switch on and off relatively quickly will cycle the light to the next color or next light show. There are 16 modes, 7 modes are fixed colors and 9 modes are rotating color shows.
Reply
Can the light be stopped on one particular color? I tried downloading the owners manual and there seems to be a bad link
Reply
Yes the light can be stopped on a color there are 7 fixed colors white, red, green, blue, gold, cyan and violet. You would cycle to the fixed colors by flipping your pool light switch relatively quickly. In addition to the fixed colors there are 9 color shows..... Evening Sea (slow animation of blue and red), Evening rivers (slow animation of green and red), Riviera (slow animation of blue and green, Rainbow (slow animation of all colors), River of Colors (slow animation of all colors followed by Four Seasons), Disco (fast animation followed by Rainbow) and Party (Fast animation followed by River of Colors).

What is the correct wattage for lighting equivelent to the existing 12V 300W bulb?
Reply
Hi Dane, I would suggest the 12V 35 Watt Pure Colors LED Pool Bulb as an equivalent replacement to a 12V 300 Watt Bulb.
Reply
I see you have an 18 W and a 35 W LED in the 120V series.. So that I pick the correct LED replacement. What is the equivalent wattage to the incandescent / halogen bulb that I'd be replacing? If this helps, my pool is an inground 16x32 gradient from 8 ft to 3 ft ..Thanks
Reply
Hi Lew, For a 16' x 32' pool I would suggest the 35 Watt 120V Pure Colors LED Pool Bulb. The 35 Watt bulb is comparable to a 300 - 400 Watt Incandescent bulb.
Reply
Can these lights be used to cycle colors when used on a timer and if you can when the timer goes off and turns back on will it be the color you had it on previously or will it change.
Reply
Yes the Pure Colors Bulb can be used to cycle colors with a timer and it does have memory so if the light is turned off for more than 20 seconds then the next time the light is turned on the light will remember the last color show it was on.

I believe I have an amerilite pool light bur how would I know for sure? Also how would I know if it's 12V or 120V? Thanks You!
Reply
The best bet would be to remove the light fixture from the niche in the wall of the pool. To do this you will turn off the breaker to the light then get in the swimming pool and remove the pilot screw at the top of the light face ring. This will then free the light from the wall of the pool and you can bring the light fixture up onto your deck. There should be a label on the light housing which will give you the manufacture and model # of your light. If this information has worn off then you can check your dimensions against the Pentair Amerilite Dimensions or the Hayward Astrolite Dimensions and if they match up then this bulb will fit. The voltage information should be on the light housing but if it has worn off then you can remove the bulb from inside the light fixture and the voltage information should be right on the light bulb.

Hi...I have an 8000 gallon pool with Pebbletec. Do I need a 3g bulb or will a 2g do the job? I don't want to overkill the lighting. Also, will this fit a PacFab 60x11x 100 watt light? Many thanks.

Hi John, For a pool your size the 2G bulb will do. However, this bulb is might not be compatible with a PacFab fixture since it's an older fixture.A 100 watt bulb is also used in spa light fixture not pool light. If you can send photos of the fixture we can confirm.

The American Products CN-5 R-500 references to the Pentair Amerliter 120V / 500W. This light is normally installed in pools. If you have this model, you may install the PL5814 or the PL5809 with the use of the Guardian Silicone Lens Extra Heavy Duty Gasket for Pentair Amerlite - LPL-G-P. You may try to use vice grips or locking pliers to get a better grip on the screw.

No, the gaskets are not included. Those gaskets are dependant on the model of the light fixture itself. You can call in with that information or if you are not sure you can send a few images of the light itself to upload@inyopools.com to assist in identifying it. Please keep in mind that these bulbs are compatible with the Pentair Amerlite, Hayward Astrolite, and the Jacuzzi Full Moon.

Yes, you can test these while a pool is empty but would not recommend testing them over a long period of time. 5 to 10 minutes should be plenty to run the tests.

Hi Jim, The SP0600 is the part # for the niche or light can that is embedded into the wall of the pool. If you already have the light fixture that goes into that can/niche and it is 120V then yes this bulb will work in your light fixture as long as your current bulb has a standard screw-in Edison base. If you are needing the complete light fixture with cord and bulb that goes into the SP0600 niche then you will need one these PureLine Pool Light Fixtures.

Hi Misty, For the pool lights you can go with this PL5814 Bulb. Unfortunately, your Spa Housing takes a T-4 Bulb and there is not a LED replacement for a T4 bulb. This means you would need to replace the complete spa fixture with this Pentair Spa Light Fixture and this 120V J&J LED Spa Bulb please note that the bulbs in the pool and spa do not synchronize if you go with PureColors and J&J. I just recently bought a LED color changing light. With the light came the new lenses gasket which I replaced as well. It took 2 days for water to get into the light socket area burning the LED light out. Im afraid to spend over $100.00 again for a light that if seal does not seal right I will burn that light out as well. If I buy from your company and if this happens again will I get a replacement bulb for free or will I have to keep paying $100 for a new bulb until the gasket seals correctly.
Reply
Carl, If the lens fails and causes damage to the bulb, that is not covered under warranty. Before re-installing the light, I would recommend placing the light assembly in a bucket of water to check for any leaks before installing it back into the pool. Also, when installing the gasket, make sure that the ridge side is facing away from the light housing.

Donald, While the bulb will physically fit inside of your light housing, you will still need to confirm what voltage you currently have (120v or 12v). The PL5814 is a 120v bulb and will not work with a 12v fixture. We also recommend replacing the lens gasket when you replace the bulb.
