How many hours per day should I run my pump?
Reply
There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

what size of return pipe to pool for this pump?
Reply
This pump does not come with unions, but the unions available for this pump are the Union 1.5" Male Threaded x 2" Slip - 21063-154-000 which is strictly for 1.5" plumbing.

what unions do i use if i need to match to 2" piping?
Reply
Hi. You can use the Union 1.5" Male Threaded x 2" Slip - 21063-154-000 which will work with your 2" pipes and connect to the 1.5" FPT port on the pump.

Does the pump remember the speed setting, so it will return to that speed on resumption of power (after an interruption of power)?

Hi, Dietet. Yes, this pump will remember and resume the speed setting in the event of a power outage.

My in ground 10,000 pool has a 1 1/2 hp Hayward Northstar pump. Would this pump have the same gpm flow?
Reply
Hello, this will not compare to your Northstar pump. If you are looking for a similar flow rate, I would recommend going with a Tristar. If you can send us a photo of your motor label, I can recommend a specific model to you.

Can this be controlled by he Jandy aqualink rs?

This unit will not pair with any automation system. The automation systems will only power this unit and would need to be controlled and set on the drive of the motor.

HI, my pool motor just died is a 1 HP single speed, and for what a can barely see my pump is a Hayward max-flo. it looks very old, I have a pool with no more than 10,000 gallons. Do you think this would be a good replacement .
Reply
Hi, Juan. If your pump is a Hayward Max-Flo 2800 Series, you can use this 1.5 H.P Variable Speed Pool Pump - PL2515 as a suitable replacement.

I have a timer connected to my motor, this will work with this pump or what will I need to do.
Reply
Hi Juan, If you currently have a timer set up for your pump then that set up will work. Your timer will power the pump on and off and then the settings you program on the pump controller will take over from there.

Does that go for a mechanical Dial Timer Mechanism from intermatic, if that is whats controling turning on/off the pump and saltwater cell?

Hello Juan- To program the PL2515 you will need to do the following:1. When the pump is plugged in, the "TIME" LED light is blinking. Enter clock setup by pushing display key. (Time setup will be unavailable after 5 seconds of blinking. Note: You must unplug the pump and ensure all the lights on the panel goes out, then plug the pump back in to restart the clock set up and begin from Step 1.)2. Use the "<" and ">" arrows to choose between a 12 hour or 24-hour time format.3. Use the "+" (plus) and "-" (minus) arrows to change the time of day (This is for the 12-hour time format, AM/PM will display in the bottom left corner.).4. Press "Display" to exit the clock setup menu. The clock is now set!

Hello, I need to replace my current pool pump. It looks like a 1 1/2 HP but I do not see anything on the rusted worn outside of the motor. This is the information I can get from the pump.Ultra flow k09j180125 Marathon Electric mod: skc38 sn6084ax.
Can you tell what kind of pump this is and will the variable speed 1 and 1/2 HP of yours replace what I have?

Hi, Joe. You have the American Products Ultra Flow Pump, I would recommend this Titan 1.5 H.P Variable Speed Pool Pump - PL2515

Hi, I have a wmc AT1800 with a magnetek 1hp motor. is this a sufficiant replacement pump? This pump is at least 23 years old and I think the Variable Speed would be a better option. Thanks
Reply
Hi, Will. This Titan VS Pump can be used as a sufficient replacement pump depending on the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool. A variable speed pump will be a more energy efficient option. However, it cannot be used in all pool application.

Hello, I just purchased and installled and having trouble setting the clock. I see the same question was also asked. I did exactly what was in the instructions (and what was re-written here) but still have trouble getting the time to stay. Thanks!
Reply
Hello Katelyn- We have actually been testing this timer to find exactly what the issue is. When you first plug in the unit and apply power you have 5 blinks (5 seconds) to set the time. Within the 5 seconds, you have to hit the display button to start setting the time. If the "Time" LED is no longer blinking you have to unplug/turn off the pump and start over.

I've got a Tampa, FL pool ... about 11-12,000 gallons ... 3 outlet jets and 1 skimmer w/ one main drain. It is serviced by a PacFab Challenger Pump w/ a 3/4 hp Century Single-speed motor, a Hayward C1200 cartridge filter, and a Hayward AquaRite AQR15 Salt Chlorinating system and Hayward Navigator vacuum (used occasionally). This setup has served us well for years, but doesn't seem to handle heavy bather loads very well. Would a variable speed pump be a good fit for us and if so, which one?
Reply
Hi, Joe. In order to determine which variable speed pump will meet your pool needs, I will need to know the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool. You can use our How To Measure Total Dynamic Head With Gauges or How Do I Calculate Feet of Head for My Pool? guides.

I have an in-ground swimming pool with approx. 6,000 gallons of water. Currently, I use an old Pentair, Self Priming Single Speed Pump. Pump Model No. CFII. 3/4 HP. 115 / 230v 60Hz. (Philippines). Pipe diameters, 1.5". I have a 2' X 2' diameter sand filter. I would like to reduce my electricity costs, hence looking at Dual Speed or Variable Speed Pumps. Could you please advise if I could fit and use the Pureline Rapids 1.5Hp Variable Speed Pump. PL 1615?

Hi, Keith. Please provide the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool so that we can locate a suitable pump for your needs.

Hi John, The PureLine Titan 2 HP Variable Speed would be more comparable in output to your Jandy 1.5 HP Stealth and would be the pump we suggest.

Is this pump comparable to the pentair 342001?

Can this pump be wired to 208volt?
Reply
Yes this pump can be wired 208 volt.
Reply
Is it ready to be wired that way out of the box, or are there jumpers that need to be switched inside the pump? I guess I’m wondering what voltages this pump can be set to run.
Reply
The 208V connection is the same as 240V, you don’t need jumpers for 208V.

I currently have a 1hp psc pump, it is an inground pool, i think 25,000 gallons...Would this pump be fine or should i go with a smaller one?
Reply
Hi Kevin, this would be a great replacement pump for your 1 HP PSC, the plumbing ports on this PureLine Pump are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing. You will see a huge energy savings with this variable speed pump compared to your current pump.

Michigan Consumers Electric currently has a rebate offer for pool pumps. They require S/N, but I cannot find it.
Where is the SN plate on a PL2515 pump?

Hello, The SN should be on the side of the pump. You can also find this model on the energy star certified website.

I want to switch to a variable speed pump. I can merge the two 1 1/2" suction lines into a 2" feed for the pump input but my filter (Hayward S244T) only has a 1 1/2" port. Will this nullify the benefit of the VSP? I can probably expand the lines beyond the filter to 2", but the bottleneck would still exist at the filter.
Reply
Hi, Bill. This Rapids 1.5 H.P Variable Speed Pool Pump has 1-1/2" ports so no need to use 2" pvc pipes.
Reply
Ok. for some reason I thought it would be better for this pump to have a 2" input. Now a bigger question. Right now my main and booster pumps are 115v on 2 Intermatic T103R timers. I believe these can handle up to 240vac. Can I combine the lines and run this pump and the booster(it can be rewired for 220) on the circuit? If so, where can I find the right wiring diagram for the timers to insure the booster only runs when the main pump is on?
Ok, but I thought that it was best to have a 2" input (join the 2- 1 1/2pipes)to maximize flow. Is there a similar pump that can work on either 110v or 220v?

Hi, I’m new to variable speed pumps.

Low speed amps and high speed amps?

Hi, Arciel. The power consumption is lower at a reduced RPM. At the highest speed which is 3450 RPM, this pump uses 5.5 amps.

If you look at the "size" boxes beneath the main item images on both the PL2515 page and the 011018 pages you can see that the top discharge locations are the same, however, the front suction location is approximately 2 inches lower on the Rapids than the Intelliflo.

Hi, I have a Jacuzzi S1LR6 and want to upgrade to this pump. Will this work fine?

Hi! Looking to replace pump but I believe the pvc is 2 inches Would this be a problem with this pump?
Reply
Emily, yes reducing down to 1.5" ports like the ones found on the PureLine PureLine Rapids 1.5 H.P Variable Speed Pool Pump would not be our suggestion. To get maximum pump efficiency we would suggest sticking with a pump that is ported for 2", such as the PureLine Prime Variable Speed Pool Pump 1.65 HP - PL2605.

I would like to replace my 1HP single speed pump that I run for about 7 hours per day. I have 2x 1-1/4 pipes coming from the pool. 1 scupper and one pool bottom/drain. the filter in 2 inch in and out. The return to the pool is 1-1/4. Not sure if I should pick this pump or the PL2605. Can you make a recommendation?
Main reason is energy saving, current setup is about $38 per month.

Hi, Leendert. Unfortunately, we're unable to make a recommendation based on the info provided. You will need to provide us the make and model of your existing pump or the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool.

Is it possible to change the default factory rpm settings on the PL2515 pump, and if so, how? I see how to change the schedule, but not how to change the actual speeds.

Please review Custom Schedules and Quick Clean page 6

This is an addendum to my previous question. The chart labeled "Performance curves for preset speeds" has different preset speeds than the presets on the default schedule. This seems odd to me.

I have a Pureline model PL2515. When I set the clock, the drive won't keep it. When I press "display" to exit the clock setup menu, nothing happens and the the drive doesn't remember the time I set.
Reply
Hi, Hi, Leonard. If you're following the info in the manual, the issue could be the drive.
Reply
Regarding my question about setting the time on my PL2515 pump, you didn't really give me an answer. However, I discovered that if I press AND HOLD the display button (not simply press) the drive saves the time and then I can proceed to program it as per the instructions. The actual answer is that the instructions aren't quite accurate. Press and hold "display to exit time setup.

Hi, Leonard. We've have run through these steps on units, and a simple press of the Display button saves the info.
