What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Hi I have Haywood pump with a 2 speed switch that is a 2.0-.25 HP MagneTek century AC Motor that I need to replace. Details on the label indicate Volts 115 AMPS; 16.4/4.4; HZ 60 and RPM 3450/1725. CAT PART 7-193076-01 type CSM. This SPX1520Z1ESC pump looks like it but I would like to be sure before spending $260. Can you confirm this is the correct pool pump replacement?
Reply
Hi Ed, This motor is a little different than your motor, you have a dual speed motor and this is a single speed motor. Your part # of 7-193076-01 cross references to this BN50V1 1.5 HP Dual Speed Replacement Motor the reason the replacement HP does match the 2 HP rating on your Hayward motor is because Hayward used a SPL HP rating where the BN50V1 motor uses a traditional HP rating. The SPL 2 HP rating is equivalent to a 1.5 HP Traditional Rating. The BN50V1 would be the proper replacement for you. We would also suggest replacing your Haward Power Flo Shaft Seal when you replace your motor.

Hi Chuck, this is the proper replacement motor however the timer does not come with the motor, you will need to use your old motor. If your timer is broken then unfortunately Hayward has discontinued the timer so you will need to go without a timer.

Hi. Unfortunately, we do not have a list of parts for this motor. You will have to get the part number form off of the actual part in order to locate the replacement.

Does the 2hp motor come with the 4 long bolts (about 8 1/4" long)

It sounds like you are referring to the thru bolts that run completely through the entire motor so yes those bolts do come with these motors.

The Motor 2 Hp W/ Switch (SPX1520Z1ESC, SP1520Z1ESC) can be used to replace the SP1520Z1EFTC SP1520-Z-1-EFTC motor. Would I need anything additional to replace this pump?
Hi Amber, the correct replacement motor for your motor part number 193824 is the BN50V1. When replacing a pool motor we do suggest a Seal Kit. Could you send us a few photos of your pump so we can suggest the proper seal kit? If so then please take a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get those photos we can make the proper recommendation for your seal kit.

Pool pump sp1520z1esc. Just beginning 3rd season . Started pump and it is making a very loud grinding noise, sounds like metal on metal. Pump is currently working but can’t believe it will last long. Question is how do I tell if the problem is the motor, armature, or the impeller and bearings?
Reply
It is hard to 100% know the issue without being there, but the grinding sound you are describing is leaning me towards a problem with the motor of the pump. It would be easiest to swap out the entire motor.
