This is a generic pump motor shaft seal for many different pool pumps. Some of the more common pumps it is used on include the Pentair WhisperFlo, Polaris PB460 booster pump, American Products Ultra Flo, Astral Astra Max and Waterway Workman. There are many other makes and models listed under the "Parts" tab above.
This seal is also available in a heavy duty version PS3865 for pools with salt chlorine systems or ozonators.
Frequently Bought with Shaft Seals
I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?

Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.

Shut off power. Removed 4 bolts holding pump and motor together. Disassembled impeller, diffuser and pump face. removed old seal, installed new seal parts - metal half into pump face (used gasket silicone before pressing in metal component), and new rubber/ceramic component into impeller. Re-assembled pump/motor and fired it up! No leaks!

I ordered a new seal kit from INYO pools. When it arrived I used the video from You Tube on the INYO website to remove the cover, volute, and impeller. It was easy to replace the seals and reassemble the parts following the INYO video. New seals no longer leak.

Because my pump has been there 10 years I had to watch a YouTube video to assist me in getting the wet end of the pump off the motor shaft. I removed the long bolts from the back of the motor and used a rubber mallet to remove the motor back cover. Placing the pump in a vice I hit the motor shaft with a hammer and knocked it out. Then I could use simple hand tools to remove the impeller. I used pliers to remove old seal. Cleaned the housing and install the seals. Then I assembled the pump with the new motor.

after breaking a perfectly good impeller [ didn't have a good strap wrench], I found an electric motor repair shop in our little town and he knew the correct bearing no. for a 1 hp century motor. It was quite easy to install , push out the old [ note there is a screw retainer to remove first. then gently tap in the new bearing [was $8] . noise gone ! Note: when you reassemble the pump after replacing the impeller be carful not to over tighten the 2 little stainless steel screws or they will pull out of the plastic. - Pentair whisperflow pump-

The metal part of the pump seal will fit into the body of the pump from either direction, but it only works if installed in the right direction. Make sure you push it into the side of the pump seal that has a little indentation that matches the lip of the metal rim to the seal. Very easy to do it wrong.
