No this is not the proper filter valve for the S160T. You may view the proper valves here >http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_hayward_s_160t_filter.aspx The 4707-0 is the Hayward Original valve and the 4707P is the generic replacement which will work as well.

Hi Tinker, You would require the TM-12 Valve for the Hayward S166T Sand Filter The TM-12 valve is a generic valve used on the Hayward S166T filter. You may also use the SP0714T valve on this page for a Hayward S166T filter. The SP0714T valve is the OEM valve made by Hayward and the TM-12 valve is a generic valve made by Praher, both valves will work.

What should the normal circulating pressure be fire this valve? My father used to maintain the pool and passed away so this is all new to me...pool store says 20 yet on the side of my filter it looks to me like it says 35...just checking!
Reply
Hi Erica, All plumbing set ups are a little different so there is no "normal" operating pressure. What you would want to do is backwash your filter to clean the filter, once this is done note your clean filter PSI rating. Once your pressure reaches 6-10 PSI over your clean PSI reading then it is time to backwash the filter. Normally we see the clean PSI readings in the 10 - 15 PSI range. Most likely the 35 PSI you see on the label is the max PSI in which the tank can handle.

Hi Mark, In most cases this issue is due to a bad spider gasket. I would suggest replacing your Hayward SP714T Spider Gasket & Diverter (the gasket is only sold with the diverter).

Just installed a new hayward series var-flow XL and new pump and sand filter system. Love the system. Have one problem, when I switch it to back wash. nothing happens. The pump is running, you can see the water moving in skimmer basket, but no water is coming out the back wash port. Any suggestions to fix this?

I have a spo714t Hayward sand filter and broke two of my lateral fingers. Is there a replacement for them? I have been searching but found nothing the looks like them
Reply
Hello. The part number you provided is for the multi-port valve used on a variety of Hayward sand filters including the Pro Series, Swim Pro, Sand Master and E-Series. To correctly identify the laterals or other parts needed you will need to identify a part number or model name/number off of the sand filter and search for replacement parts for that filter. If the part numbers are not available on the sticker of the filter, you may email us photos of the equipment via email to upload@inyopools.com.

The internal rubber gasket failed on my sand filter. Went to local store to buy a new one. Found that I could not just get the gasket, & had to buy the gasket & the plastic internal piece that it fits into. I had to remove the rod & spring mounted handle to replace the entire part. Very difficult to reassemble!! When I put it back together, it to leaks around the handle. Am I missing a gasket or do something wrong in putting back together. Is there a gasket above the spring I am missing.

Hi Harold, If you just need the o-ring that goes between the valve and filter for your Hayward S-220T then you will need this Hayward S-220T Valve O-ring. If you did decide to replace your entire valve then the SP0714T valve is the correct replacement valve for your S-220T filter.

My pump seems to be working well, but I hear a "gurgling" sound inside the key cover and handle assembly (Hayward SPX714T). The pool heat pump will not turn on and it is indicating a FLO problem. Do I need to replace the key cover and handle assembly?
Reply
You have an air leak somewhere which is reducing your flow rate. Is anywhere on your pump leaking water? You will hear a gurgling sound in your filter if your pump is leaking as well. If your pump is leaking, I'd change the seals in it which is a cheap fix. Less expensive than changing the key assembly on your filter so that would be a place I'd start first.
Reply
The filter does not always work no matter what setting I put the control valve handle in, e.g. filter, backwash, rinse, etc.
If I play the handle back and forth a bit around a setting it will eventually work but that can take a long time to happen.
The control valve is very hard to move as well.

Hi John, Giving the issues that you're experiencing you'll be better off replacing the entire valve or the Cover and Handle Assembly (SPX0714BA) along with the Cover O-ring (SPX0714L).

Why so many settings on the valve and how do each one work?
Reply
Hi Don, here are the valve functions and their different uses. 1. Filter - For normal filtering and regular vacuuming. 2. Backwash - For cleaning filter sand bed of accumulated debris. 3. Rinse - Use after completing backwash cycle to ensure all dirty water is rinsed out of the filter to waste. 4. Waste - By-passes the filter for draining or lowering pool water level and for vacuuming heavy debris directly to waste line. 5. Recirculate - Water is recirculated through the valve, by-passing the filter. 6. Closed - Shuts off the flow from the pump to the filter.

Hi Dan, There are only 2 Top Mount Valves for Hayward Sand Filters and the only difference between the two is the plumbing connections for your PVC pipe, one accepts 1.5" plumbing and the other accepts 2" plumbing. This valve is the 1.5" version and I would estimate that 95% of the valves on the market are the version that accepts the 1.5" plumbing. If you could provide us the model # off of the label on the side of your filter tank than we would know for sure. Common model #'s would be S166T, S180T, S244T, etc.. Hello, Unfortunately, this valve would not work with your filter. We would not carry any parts for that filter on our website.

Hi, James. The clamp is not included with this valve. All the internal o-rings and gasket along with the valve to tank o-ring is included.

Also I am like 95% positive this is the right multi port for my filter. As the number on mine do not even match anything Hayward has. Possibly they updated this type of valve and gave it a different part number. But I do have a 300 lb Hayward sand filter with 1 1/2 inlets and outlets. Fed by a 1&1/2 hp motor

James, You can send us pictures of the valve so that we can confirm that this valve will fit your filter 100%.

This valve is NOT the proper replacement valve for your Jandy ST24-T sand filter. You would require this 228042 Jandy ST24-T Replacement Valve
Reply
Is this a replacement for this pentair valve? They look identical.
Hi Jerry, No this valve is not the replacement for your Pentair Valve. Based on the photo we can only confirm the top valve assembly which will be this E-50-S1 Top Mount Valve Assembly normally if you have leaking out of the top of the valve or your getting leaking out of the filter or backwash ports then all you need is the top assembly. If you think you need the entire valve then please give us the filter label data which is on the side of the tank. Or if you can take a photo of that label and a wide shot showing the complete filter and post back to this thread.

Broke handle on my Hayward Multi port Valve for S210T, looking for a replacement valve with bleed air option, does this valve have that option? If not, can you recommend one? Thanks

The PL0714 valve does not have an air relief, neither does the OEM valve that comes with a new filter the SP714T. What is the model number of your current valve that has this option?
Reply
The filter doesn’t come with air relief valve, my pump is super hard to prime because it is located uphill from the pool... need to find a way to make it easier, thought a bleed air valve would help... it’s so difficult I’m to the point of replacing the filter if needed... I primed the skimmer twice in 2 hrs, but when I slowly opened the main, lost the prime. At wits end.

Hi, Michael. Foaming in the pool is caused by a chemical reaction from skincare products being in the water. You can use a non-chlorine shock to reverse the foaming.

Hi! I have a Hayward Pro Series sand filter SP714-A. The white ring that is under the handle broke and we have been having trouble with changing the settings ever since and a small amount of water under the handle. I was looking to replace this entire part rather that just the broken piece. Is this is a compatible part? Is there a how to video on the replacement process? Also I was wondering if this part being leaky could contribute to air bubbles coming from my return jets.
Hi, Anna. This PL0714 Valve is the correct replacement by Pureline. The leak will NOT cause air bubbles at your return.

This valve does not fit the filter in your photo. The original valve on your filter is no longer available, however, this American Products Meteor Replacement Valve will work. Please note the ports on the valve are not in the exact location as your current valve so re-plumbing may be required.
